It made the front page of the Daily Express in 1932, the media distinctly unimpressed by the ban from Arsenal's AGM. This would a story that rumbled on for months, if not years, in the modern era. Except it was not a ban, just a simple misunderstanding. I can imagine the twinkle in his eye as he decided which ripping yarn to spin as an excuse.
